How Can I Steam Or Iron A Bridesmaid Dress?

I have a bridesmaid dress that the skirt is just slightly wrinkled…It didn’t need alterations, so I don’t want to spend the money to have it pressed or steamed, how can I do this at home without burning the dress or ruining the fabric? The wedding is in 3 days, I need help quick!

I would not suggest touching the iron to the dress as this can cause discoloration. Hang the dress up and let the iron heat up to one of the steam settings. Make sure you have plenty of water in the iron and hold it about 6-10 inches away from the dress. Press the burst of steam button and pull down on the hem at the same time. Using this technique is similar to the method used when professionally steaming a garment. This should take the wrinkle right out without the possibilty of ruining the dress.

hang it in your bathroom. run the shower on just hot water for 15 minutes. you must have any windows closed and exhaust fan off. turn off water and smooth out wrinkles with your hands. you should call around to some cleaners and ask how much they charge for pressing. it may be cheaper than you think.

Buy a fabric steamer from wal-mart. or Try some wrinkle reducer spray also from wal-mart.

turn it inside out and if ur dress has a tag on the inside check what kind of fabric the skirt is and set ur iron to the number that the fabric can take and iron quickly if its satin because if you leave it in one spot too long you can ruin the dress in that one spot but if the fabric is a bit thicker than you can slowly go over the dress.
