Caribbean weddings surely do borrow from popular U.S. wedding customs. However, Caribbean heritage draws from African and European tradition, which means they have some customs of their own. Caribbean weddings have many unique elements.
One popular tradition is for the bride and groom to don their very finest clothes, and walk from the home to the church. The point of this tradition is to announce and proclaim the wedding celebration. Community members line the streets, and they admire the couple as they stroll by. Since guests are usually invited by way of word-of-mouth, it isn’t surprising that Caribbean weddings are open to whomever shows up, invited or not!

Picking a more peculiar type of wedding leaves room to unique wedding planning but it all depends on personal preference for one kind of event or another. The choice of decorations, favors, colors, flowers and menus will be chosen to reflect the theme. A special place will have to be arranged for the ceremony and the party so that everything is suitably matched to the theme.

Less stress and flexible organization of the event make the best way to describe the preparations for a small wedding. A small event involves a guest list of not more than 50 people, most usually counting friends and family. No one is keen when it comes to etiquette and the atmosphere is more of a relaxing one. Small wedding planning has the advantage of money savings that is quite impossible with too large events. In addition to this, there will be lesser pressure in planning the groom wedding speach as it will be addressed in front of a lesser number of people compared to a bigger event (but still, there’s a need to make it interesting for the bride and the visitors!).
