Is It Bad Luck To Have Two Wedding Dresses?

I want to wear a dress that going to last me from the ceremony until a little bit into the reception. However, I want to wear another dress that I can dance and move around in…I want to enjoy my night. Is it bad luck to have two wedding dresses?

I had two dresses, but the second dress was just a cute little white off-the-rack dress from Ann Taylor. Keep the second dress simple, and don’t waste your money
We had a morning wedding with a brunch reception, for which I wore my gown, but then we planned an evening gathering afterwards for all our friends in family from out of town, and I changed dresses for that, but kept may hair up. It was nice to be able to move and have fun, as wedding gowns can be so heavy.

oh of course you can do this. I’ve seen it many times. Once you start dancing the first big fancy dress is going to get uncomfortable. not easy to move in, etc.
GO FOR TI!!! No bad luck at all.
p.s. YOU make your luck. Even seeing the groom that morning is not going to cause you to have a disasterous wedding. Worry not!

i think it’s a great idea. i’m probably doing it, but in a somewhat different senario. i’m getting married in another country wearing my gown with just my family. then when we return i’ll have another more casual white dress for the reception. good luck and congrats!

Its done in Hollywood or high society all the time, probably to flaunt their wealth. But most formal gowns are not comfortable to wear all day, and people look silly dancing in formal wear.
Its your day and can do what you want, just stay away from the Pam Anderson white bikini look (unless you are on a beach in Aruba:) )

i have never heard that it’s bad luck> but why waste the money. instead of 2 wedding dresses have a really pretty dress (maybe white?) that you change into during the reception (i have seen many brides do that)

I don’t think having two dresses would change your luck at all. It sounds like you’re being practical by having something for the reception that you are comfortable and able to move around in.

A lot of brides are now doing this because the ball gowns for the ceremony and photos are beautiful but hard to party in!

Do what works for you…’bad luck’ is what we say when something doesn’t go our way. You having 2 dresses won’t create any negative or positive events that occur.

I think it’s quite common. I’ve never heard of it being “bad luck.” Have fun!

I’ve heard of a lot of wedding superstitions but I don’t think that’s bad luck. if you can afford 2 dresses, rock on!
